Kirsty :: Swag

Earlier this year, I went to my nephew’s birthday party. He was five, and so were most of his guests. The party was held in one of those play centres – the kind that’s filled with things for small boys to clamber on, crawl through, swing from, slide down or throw at unsuspecting grown-ups. Fun if you're five, not so much if you're a germ-phobic thirty-something.

Let's just say I was a little more willing to leave then most of the smaller guests. My sister’s solution to the impressive array of tears, tantrums and glowering sulks they offered up, was the time-honoured party bag. Give a child a bag filled with stuff made from processed sugar or cheap plastic, and they’ll mostly head home as happy as they were when they arrived at ball-pond central.

In the same way you’re probably assuming by now that I’m a complete Eeyore of an aunt (not true), I am going to assume that plastic and processed sugar won’t quite cut it for party-goers as discerning as you. So, I’ve come up with something a bit different.

This little bundle of goodies is all about favourites – a framed, handmade picture created with my favourite Banana Frog stamps, postcards by a couple of my favourite artists and a hand-stitched scarf from one of my favourite Etsy shops, Syko. To prove I’m not a total Eeyore, and because all good party bags should include something delicious, I’ll also add some favourite chocolate before mailing.

To win this happiest of party bags, all you need to do is leave a comment below telling me your favourite Copy+Paste post from our first year of blogging.

The closing date for entries is 23:00 [BST] on Sunday 16th May and the winner, chosen at random, will be announced ASAP afterwards.

I'm new to the Copy and Paste blog, but when looking through some previous posts, I found the one about the What is England? photography project very interesting.

It's always interesting to see how different people define things, especially something so personal as their own country.

Haha! LOVE the painting with birds using balloons to fly!

Leave us with an easy question, why don't you? It's so very hard to choose ladies, but I did so love the Post Secret prompt and my ensuing mini-book.

PS. You just can't beat a bit of post-party processed sugar.

I adore the February posting about spirograph ... it was my favourite toy when I was growing up, I had spiro pics everywhere, my (older) cousin gave me a white pencil and I spiroed every dark bit of paper I could find until that pencil was a teeny stub too small to hold ... I went to a car boot today and asked just about every stallholder if they had a spirograph but no luck ... found one on ebay tho!!!!

I love that scarf and the postcards! My favorite post looking back would be this one: http://thecopyandpasteproject.blogspot.com/2010/02/id-like-to-copy-dinosaurs.html

I love dinosaurs...just something about them that makes me smile.

Thanks!

The Coraline post! That was one of the first ones I read, and I was totally hooked.
Although I have to say I liked the recent Ruth Brompton post- I'm always excited to find non-Disney Alice stuff. :)

Well, I've only just discovered you and am already finding it hard to choose my favourite post! I did love Julie's wall-quote canvas post, also the creating poetry from blanking out newspaper articles etc. It's all been very very inspiring.

Well I only found you on Saturday and the first post I came across was your Colour swatch post which totally inspired me and it's been all good since then. I'll definitely be sticking around - thanks for the inspiration!

Another here for the Coraline post. It, well, Sians project was what first led me to discover Copy+Paste properly and inspired one of my own favourite crafty creations. I usually end up giving my stuff away or relegating it to the recycling but my Coraline Duckie sits proudly on my shelf watching me day in and day out :P

Well I just made my way over here very recently when I read Dina Wakley's post. I found out more about her through this post than in the 6 months that I've been following her own blog!! But then of course, I started exploring here and I just loved the whole vibe and concept of it. I immediately signed up! Keep up the good work.

I'm new to this blog - saw the link on UKS tonight. Having spent a very happy hour looking round the blog I really like the Coraline post too. It is one of mine and my daughter's favourite films and this post appeals to us both!

I'm a relatively new follower, and VERY behind on my blogroll, so I'm still catching up and reading everything, but so far I couldn't really pick a single favorite. I love your recent thing with Cathy Cullis. I actually started following you when you wanted to copy Mark Rothko, and talked about Kris's Color Stripes blog.

You got my attention right from the off with that Hamlet quote, although I didn't have my own blog at that point, so lurked for a fairly long time before the 12 Days of Christmas brought me out of the woodwork!

That is very pretty scarf indeed. :o)

I think it would have to be the one about 'Flawed Work of Art'.
